RFP-hoofdstuk 09
One international foundation
Shared brand and content principles with controlled local language, availability, cases and contact routes.
Our response & approach
Shared platform with market context
For the shared editorial platform, we recommend WordPress with one centrally managed installation, a multilingual setup and explicit market attributes. Language and market are modelled separately. After all, English-language content for the international audience may have different availability, contacts and calls to action than English-language content for a specific region.
Global foundation and local variants
The global foundation contains the brand, components, core propositions, knowledge and corporate information. Local variations contain available offerings, contacts, distributors, case studies and approved local content. A stable internal content ID connects variants. During discovery, we choose a URL model, for example language-market paths where they are genuinely needed, and retain existing valuable URLs where possible. Hreflang is used for genuine alternative language or regional versions, not for pages that are not equivalent in content.
Local publication and revision
The publication process starts with a central source. Local editors can create approved variants and manage local fields. When the source changes, the owner of the local variant receives a revision task. Untranslated content only falls back to another language when this is acceptable for the subject and is made visible. For local availability and regulated documentation, we do not apply unmarked fallback.
Roles for central and local editorial teams
We combine WordPress roles with additional permissions for language, market and publication status. This refinement is configuration or custom development on top of the standard roles and is explicitly tested. Central administrators manage design rules and the glossary; local editors manage their own variants; experts assess content through a review process. [9]
Aligning commerce with regional needs
For regional e-commerce, a separate WordPress/WooCommerce installation or an existing commerce platform can be connected through shared identifiers and interfaces. For separate payment processes, legal entities, hosting requirements or independent releases, a network or separate architecture may be a better fit. WordPress Multisite is then an option to assess, not an automatic choice for every language. [11]
Example of international coherence
A concrete example is a global solution page that displays a local expert and an approved availability notice in Germany. A potential French webshop can later connect to the same product identification, while payment and inventory remain in the regional commerce environment. We deliver the localization model, the permissions matrix, ownership and a substantiated architecture decision with cost implications.
